Distractions From Real Life
Men are so easily distracted from the reality of where life flows from. We are so quickly diverted from the real source of life, to some method that we are convinced will give us life. There is no method, there is only God Himself as our source of life. Many will be quick to say, “Amen” to this statement, but it is those who are quick to be wary of. Men like them do not think before they speak. Because they do not think before they speak, they do not really know what they are saying and therefore will mislead many as if they have “arrived” at some conclusion. These are the men of James 1, that are tossed to and fro by the waves of different doctrines (the only thing it usually depends on is what the majority vote thinks is correct).
Our lives cannot become an obsession with one aspect of life, the fighting part, or the heart part, the glory part, or even just the "creating bands of brothers." Many guys get something in there heads about the fighting, and are obsessed with just that. They run home, and freak their wives out because they are still wounded and they feel and act as a boy who has been given a sword by a man who knows what he is doing and they just start swinging at everything the think is an “attack from Satan and his demons”, even though they are still in the dark and have not allowed the Father to bring them fully to the light. The point of talking about the war, is not to enlist men, it is simply speaking of reality for what it is. And yet, this is not the focal point of LIFE. When it becomes the focal point of our daily life, we have already lost the real battle. As long as the union of our spirit with our Father and His Spirit is lost, Satan could care less how that happens, when it happens, by what “method” it happens, as long as that you loss the source of all Life. It is here, and only here (in the union of our spirit with our Fathers), that we are fully alive. We must be clear about what we are after, a new method (the same wineskin, trying to masquerade it as a different wineskin) or the full life (the new wine, in the new wineskin) that is only available when our Father draws us into Himself, not because we "do" anything except let go of the lives we have tried to, or created for ourselves.
