What is a witness?
You know where everything really lies. It lies in life. What you actually believe, you do not have to tell anyone, they can watch you live and know exactly what you believe. You can say one thing with your mouth, but your true beliefs come out through your very life.
What is a witness. According to Jesus own life Jesus only says and does "what He sees the Father doing."
To Nicodemus question in John 3,
Nicodemus said to Him, "How can these things be?"
Jesus answered ... "I say to you, we speak of what we know and testify of what we have seen..."
Or John in 1 John 1. What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life-and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us...
John was not speaking and using theological words and mumbo jumbo in order to "convince people." He is speaking of his friend. The man whose chest he laid his head on at the last meal before his best friends death. The words "Word of Life" and "eternal life" that he uses to describe Jesus are not things that prove Jesus was real or was the Word of Life. They are statements of Fact that God Himself shared with John. John only testified of that which He had seen with his eyes, touched with His hands, heard with his ears. He spoke of His best friend.
He does not do this so that we can "relay" the message, He says it so that we will desire to touch, and see Him for who He is, then we can also testify and witness as the Father reveals Himself to us.
Even in our own legal system you cannot testify or be a witness in a case where you were not "there" at the scene when it happened.
If you have no personal knowledge of God Himself [personal knowledge is not what you have memorized from scripture, that is someone elses personal knowledge you try to pawn off as your own], then you are not a witness at all, regardless of what you say. You are a fraud, trying to pawn yourself off as "having seen it" and then justify yourself by saying, "it is in the bible so it is true." Yes, but your witness is not credible in any situation because you did not see Him, touch Him, hear Him, smell Him. You have no actual personal knowledge of Him, you have the information relayed to you from somewhere else.
You know how I know, because I was this fraud. I went to the "christian college" and got the education [the information from the men's letters who lived with Jesus]. But, I walked out of there with nothing to witness of myself because I had not walked with God, listening to God, feeling God, and literally knowing God with my own heart and life. He had not yet become my Father, He was still my far off God.
Over the past couple of days, I spoke with my beloved bride and was trying to relay "information" about what I had learned. Then I started speaking of what had happened to me. The things I had seen, or heard, and the difference was amazing. She understood me when I spoke of my life. When I spoke of my friend and what He had done in my heart and life, what he had said directly to me and the things he had healed within my heart and life.
The same thing happened two days before that, as I was speaking to a friend of mine over pizza and beer. He was speaking of sharing things with a friend, and the frustration he had in the conversation. I simply began sharing the troubles I had in my life in doing that same thing with people and what the Father had opened up to my heart and eyes to see. I never told him "what to do," I shared my life and left the decision of "what to do" between him and his true Father.
I did not do these things within myself, My Father has also made that change within my soul. I did not change myself. We cannot share a life with the Father, living as one, if we do not actually have one. That is not meant to be theological, that is a simple fact. You cannot share what you do not have.
If you have information, you will share information, but do not call yourself a witness because you are not a witness. You are merely a textbook within a classroom, full of information but having no life.
